Lets pick out a list of 'essential' tools in each category. The Fab Lab might be a good starting point for this. For those that are prohibitively expensive, lets choose the ACTUAL tool we ACTUALLY want to buy and post a kickstarter campaign for it. For cheaper tools Auctions, Craigslist and Cheap Chinese Tools are probably the way to go to start.
- Embedded Circuit Design/Electronics Lab Tools
- CNC Router We might be able to do some fun stuff with laser in meantime (maybe 3/4" mdf?)
- CNC Milling Machine -we can CNC our Mini Mill!
- CNC Lathe -we're borrowing one of Corey's and we can CNC our 7x10!
- Lathe - We have 3 at this point, but someone suggests Harrison Alpha Model
- Plasma Cutter --> http://www.plasmacam.com/products-index.php
- Waterjet Cutter - Omax?
- Drill Press - we have 2, but presumably a better one
- Circular Saw - We're eyeing a Hitachi C8FSHE 8-1/2
- Table Saw - we get a ryobi from home depot for free!
- Air Compressor - we have a cheap Ace Hardware version, but its a little rough
- Band Saw - We have the Harbor Freight model, but its a little rough..
- Air filtration - for wood projects and routers, etc. Can we
- 3D Scanner - Nextgen?
- Pick and Place - APS? or http://code.google.com/p/openpnp/
